Chesapeake Bay Foundation Volunteer Event: Oyster Gardening

Add to Your Calendar: 12/17/2021 14:00 12/17/2021 15:30 America/New_York Chesapeake Bay Foundation Volunteer Event: Oyster Gardening

Chesapeake Bay Foundation: Oyster Gardening (13-19 year old)
a note from CBF: Oyster Gardening Cage Building: In order to support the community of over 400 oyster gardeners, volunteers help us build small cages by cutting and bending crab pot material and securing the cages with pig rings. The cages will be used to raise baby oysters produced on our Oyster Barge throughout Coastal VA. Because of the cutting, we need teens that are comfortable with tools and using their hands.

CBF will host us on a 30 minute tour of the Brock Environmental Center, after that we will spend an hour volunteering to build oyster gardening cages. Teens will have an opportunity to learn how oysters help clean the waters while being an active part of this conservation effort.

firm RSVP required by 11/30/21 via https://forms.gle/wu8DoigPJMjfG46q7

Brock Environmental Center's Covid policy: While we are outdoors and can be socially distanced, masks are not required. To enter the building (ex. for bathroom use or tour), you must be vaccinated and masked.
